Today, we want to spotlight one of our exceptional DeliverThat drivers, Amy Mitchell. Originally from Lexington, Amy started driving with DeliverThat in 2019 and was one of the first drivers in the metro. Recently, she moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she continues to drive for DeliverThat part-time during the day while working part-time at night.
Amy found DeliverThat through a job posting on Indeed for flexible part-time work. She immediately liked the idea and knew she wanted to try it. Joining in 2019, Amy's sign-up process slightly differed from what we offer now. Amy's first delivery came during her Ride-Along, where a corporate employee (Dan) came down to Lexington to introduce Amy to the platform and run the first delivery with her. "I know it's not offered now, but that experience was beneficial. Having someone from corporate show me the ropes instill confidence in me to do the job correctly moving forward," Amy said.
Amy has worked with other gig-based platforms before but says none compare to DeliverThat regarding driver support and pay-per-delivery. "Not only is the pay great, but having someone to talk through bad situations is extremely helpful. I also love the pre-scheduled aspect of DeliverThat. It makes it easy to plan my day around my part-time job," she said.
One of Amy's favorite things about driving for DeliverThat is the personal connections she's made with restaurant managers and customers. "Back in Lexington, I love delivering for Jason's Deli. I have made a personal relationship with the manager there, and every time I'm back in Lexington, I try to take at least one delivery from there to get back and catch up with the staff. Down here in Birmingham, Taziki's is my favorite. The manager there is always so nice," said Amy.
Working for a company that is "By Drivers, For Drivers" is important to Amy. "The live support offered by DeliverThat is the best. Everyone on the staff is always so helpful and always finds the quickest and best solution when I am in need. In addition, the Support Team has first-hand knowledge of the situations drivers find themselves in, bringing a sense of reassurement in often stressful situations," she said. According to Amy, she highly recommends DeliverThat to friends and family and always talks positively about the company to others.
When asked, Amy had some excellent advice for newer drivers to the DeliverThat platform. "Always have a wagon on your deliveries. Anything you can do to, in this case literally, take the burden off your shoulders, do it," she advised. "From there, be happy. As a gig worker, you have all the freedom in the world; you are working because you chose to. Have a smile and be as helpful to everyone during the delivery."
We appreciate Amy taking the time to talk with us. She has been a rockstar ever since joining the platform and has always exemplified what it means to be a catering delivery driver with DeliverThat. Keep up the excellent work, and keep #DeliveringMore, Amy!
