Meet Ramiro Rodriguez, a catering delivery driver with DeliverThat from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has driven in the gig economy since 2020 and joined DeliverThat Driver Nation in 2021. Originally hailing from the City of Angels, Ramiro moved to New Mexico for college in 2010. After graduating high school and going on to attend the University of New Mexico, Ramiro got involved in community work and non-profit organizations, including immigrant rights and voter registration.
When asked how he heard about DeliverThat, Ramiro explained that after graduating, he struggled to find a job and started trying other app-based platforms. "During the pandemic, like many, I turned to work app-based platforms. I started on-demand food delivery because I saw the need when everyone was locked down", Ramiro said.
What sets DeliverThat apart from other companies Ramiro has worked with is the support they offer. "I appreciate being able to call the Support Team and get immediate assistance. Everyone is always so kind and helpful. I also love the pre-scheduled aspect of DeliverThat. Being able to route my deliveries and create an efficient day is a huge plus. The new routing rules make it even easier on us as drivers to be autonomous, without relying on Support to approve routes", Ramiro claimed. As someone who will split time between Los Angeles and Albuquerque, Ramiro also added that he enjoys being able to seamlessly switch between teams to drive in new areas.
When asked about the most significant benefit of being a DeliverThat driver, Ramiro emphasized the ability to work at his own pace and schedule. "The freedom provided by DeliverThat and the gig economy as a whole is unparalleled. I work when I want to and as much as I want to", Ramiro said.
Working for a company that is "By Drivers, For Drivers" means a lot to Ramiro. "I proudly wear my DeliverThat t-shirt on deliveries and take pride in my work. I appreciate the open lines of communication and the fact that the company recognizes the issues drivers face. The wait time compensation offered at delayed pickups shows that the company cares and is looking out for drivers," he said. Ramiro added that he loves working for a young company that understands efficiency and communication are the way forward.
When asked for advice for new drivers, Ramiro suggests getting the first delivery under their belt and using it as a learning experience. "Take a notebook on that first delivery and write down any questions that come about during the process. Then, when you are finished, reach out to support and get clarity on those questions. You won't be perfect the first time, but you can improve tremendously by being detailed and simply wanting to improve," said Ramiro.
We appreciate Ramiro taking the time to share his story with the rest of Driver Nation and us. As one of the longest-tenured drivers in the Albuquerque area, Ramiro has been a cornerstone of his team. Keep up the hard work, and keep #DeliveringMore, Ramiro!
